The Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center is pleased to announce a one-week, one woman show by fiber artist Barbara Carlson –  Carlson, a resident of Calico Rock, will present her fiber art in the Murphy Gallery from Tuesday, ACalico Rock Museum One-Woman show by fiber artist Barbara Carlson April 5-9pril 5 to Saturday, April 9. Admission to the Calico Rock Museum and all their events is always free.

Fiber art has its origins in the settlement of the frontier and the founding of Calico Rock. One of the earliest forms of such art was quilting. Women worked both creative images, patterns and sometimes stories into their quilting. It was a way for them to both take care of their families and express themselves.

This Saturday, the museum will sponsor a Lawnmower Race (postponed from Bootlegger Daze due to rain) at the Tip Wiseman Lions Club Rodeo Arena in Earl King Park. The race begins at 1:00 p.m. There is no cost to enter the race.

Our newest exhibit, Medical Pioneers, has opened in the front window of the museum. The Honoring Our Heroes exhibit has been moved into the museum ground floor. We hope you will check out both of these exhibits.

We Need Your HELP!
The museum is working on a small exhibit on surrounding communities. If you live (or lived) in Dolph, Pineville, Boswell, Culp, etc we would love to display items from those communities. If you have items that you think might work, call us at 870-297-6100.

Finally, we are preparing to honor Dr. Noel Copp on the 85th anniversary of his medical practice this summer. Dr. Copp delivered his first baby, Eulice Gillihan, on June 26, 1931. If you were delivered by Dr. Copp, were treated by Dr. Copp, or took his mule train to Blanchard Springs, or have any other interesting story, we want to hear from you. You can jot it down and mail it to 104 Main Street, Calico Rock, AR 72519; call us at 870-297-6100; or e-mail us at calicorockmuseumfoundation@gmail.com.

Thank you for your help and support of the Calico Rock Museum!
