Batesville Parks and Recreation Department offers several upcoming recreation programs this season for all ages! It’s the season of recreation and we want everyone involved! Please be sure to check out what Batesville Parks & Recreation has to offer this time of year. With recreation programs for all ages, Batesville Parks & Recreation is committed to offering the best youth recreation programs and activities. Youth programs such as basketball, swim lessons, and our popular BTAC Torpedoes Swim Program. We’ve also loaded up with several adult sports by adding flag football, basketball, wallyball, racquetball, inner tube water polo, and adult swim lessons.

Calico Rock’s Mountain Man Rendezvous in Rand City Park Sept. 7-9th! And Other Events! Mountain Man Rendezvous will open to the public Friday afternoon at 2:30 and last through Saturday evening. Friday evening there will be a Dutch Oven Dessert contest starting at 5pm, dishes will be judged at 7pm. Saturday night will be a Stew Cook Off to start at 5pm and judged at 7pm. There will be knife and tomahawk throwing, period bow making, and Spinning. Mountain Man and Mountain Mama competitions will also take place along with much more. The public is encouraged to participate in all events.

Marcia Wallace will teach “Drawing People” September 9th-10th at the Arkansas Craft School. This course will cover techniques and practice in capturing the human likeness in drawing media. Our fellow humans beings can be one of the most difficult forms to capture in our art. Students will begin by focusing on portraits, capturing form and expression. Then they will move on to figures, capturing pose and anatomy. Proportions and techniques for capturing faces and bodies that turn in space will be central to the course.

Independence County Library Friends Foundation Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre Fundraiser Sept. 16th! Come enjoy a three-course meal and an exciting murder mystery production of the original play, “Murder by the Book,” presented by the Independence County Library Friends Foundation. Between each course, the plot will unfold and guests must pay close attention to the characters to guess which character is the murderer. Those who guess correctly will be placed in a drawing for a prize.

The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) and 2017 White River Water Carnival sponsors are proud to announce the details related to the River City Cruisers Car Show set for September 16, 2017. The car show, which is presented by the Wood Family of Dealerships, has become one of the biggest attractions at the White River Water Carnival.
