Building an Earthen Oven: April 28th, 2018 from 9:00a.m-3:00p.m.
Meeting Location: Visitor Center Porch
Love fresh baked bread, just out of the oven? Join Davidsonville staff for part one of a two part program and help make the thing that makes the bread. Wear your ‘mud’ clothes and pitch in to help build an earthen oven like those commonly found in early settlements. Participants in this first part of the program will receive hands on practice and instructions for this historic project to take home, and a memorable experience that only playing in the mud can bring.

Baking in an Earthen Oven: May 12th, 2018, Time TBA
Meeting Location: Visitor Center Porch
The oven fire is ready, are you? Join park staff for the finale of the two-part program on historic oven building and baking. We’ll prepare and bake a few loaves of homemade bread, discuss tools needed, oven prep, use, and care, and enjoy the results of our hard labor towards the end. Participants will receive recipes and the knowledge of how to work their own backyard ovens.
Program Fee: $15
Dutch Oven Workshop: May 12th , 2018 from 1:00-4:00p.m.
Meeting Location: Visitor Center Porch
Bring your appetite and a willingness to learn as we prepare a Dutch Oven Dinner at Davidsonville. Participates will help prep, cook, and clean a three course meal that looks and tastes just as great as the food the original settlers of Davidsonville prepared. This program is great as a family outing, for making new friends, and for learning how historic meals were prepared. This is a rain date rescheduled program, so don’t wait, sign up today!

Kids to Parks Day: May 19th. 2018 from 9:00–11:00am and 1:00-3:00p.m.
Meeting Location: Visitor Center
Where oh where has the ranger gone? Calling all kids! One of our rangers has wandered out into the park and took all our candy with them! Stop by the visitor center for clues as to his location and begin your hunt. If you find the ranger, he may just reward you with a sweet prize. Grab your hiking shoes and binoculars and come join us for this fun morning of park exploration. In the afternoon, join us at the education center for a fun crafting project.
