The Hardy History Association’s first quarterly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 5:30 pm in the Hardy Gym located at 203 School Street.  The community is invited to attend the Association’s first in-person meeting of 2023.

Patsy Church and Vicki Strickland will be the presenters and they will share the “Hardy History Museum.” They both serve as Association Board Members with Patsy as Museum Curator and Vicki as Museum Archivist. The program will address the Hardy History Museum’s inception, development and updates currently underway in preparation for the Museum’s Grand Re-opening on Saturday, March 25, 2023, 2 pm – 4 pm. The Hardy History Museum is located in Hardy at 119 East Main Street.

Patsy’s family began vacationing in Hardy in the mid 1950’s. Her father and grandfather built a vacation cabin in Hardy and along with her parents and two sisters she moved to Hardy in 1956. Patsy attended school in Hardy from 7th – 11th grade and from a young age she enjoyed walks into Hardy to the movie theater and for shopping as well as taking nature walks through the woods and to Buford beach, with the river as her favorite place to go. During her married years they raised two children while living in Texas and Tennessee with Hardy as the place for all of the family vacations. She eventually relocated here again in 1995 and has lived in the area for the past 28 years. Vicki Strickland has deep family roots which go back to the 1850’s with the Walker family who were the first settlers in the Hardy area. Her mother and father were both born and raised in Hardy and she has called Hardy home through the years. Vicki recently commented that she has learned a lot by working at the Hardy History Museum especially about her own family’s history.
Please join us on March 16th at the Hardy Gym to learn about the “Hardy History Museum.” The presentation will also stream on the Hardy History Association’s Facebook page and a Zoom link will be sent out. We look forward to seeing you Thursday,
