The 11th Annual King of the Crag will be held October 12-13, 2024 at Jamestown Crag in Locust Grove.
This sport climbing competition is open to climbers of all skill levels, offering divisions for recreational, advanced and expert “Rock God “climbers.
This event is not only about competition; it’s a major fundraiser created by the Nomads to support the maintenance and development of Jamestown Crag, ensuring continued free public access.
The Nomads own, operate and maintain the area not only for this event, but to keep this area northeast Arkansas’ premier sport climbing destination.
The format of the competition awards points based on the difficulty of the routes, with the highest points given for clean climbs without falls
The competition is comprised of three divisions based on climbing skill levels: Recreation (5.5 -5.9), Advanced (5.10- 5.11A) and Rock God (5.11B – 5.13+).
Competitors will accumulate points based on their top five red-point climbs of the day, with tie-breaking routes if necessary.
Prizes are also given for most routes climbed, with separate categories for men and women.
Even if you’re not a climber, you’re encouraged to attend and enjoy the day with the climbing community, complete with raffle items, music and refreshments.
Jamestown Crag is a magical area with over 100 bolted climbing routes, primitive campsites and an 8-mile trail system. Owned and operated by the Nomads, this property was developed to preserve the natural landscape and create a hub for outdoor recreation.
