(September 13-14), the Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center will host our annual Native American Heritage Weekend.  We are welcoming back the Oklahoma Fancy Dancers.  These are professional Native American dancers that bring to life the dance traditions and customs of our ancestors.   Their dance demonstrations are among the best in the country and they will be in our own backyard!
There will be a Navajo weaving loom, textile demonstrations, working with stones, Native American art (including local artist Mike Diaz), chuck wagon cooking, teepees and various Native American living quarters, and story telling.  There are events planned in both Rand City Park and along historic Main Street.

There are lots of other great events next weekend during the Native American Heritage Weekend.  The Pineville Volunteer Fire Department is hosting their annual barbecue dinner and auction.  This is their primary fundraiser of the year.

The Calico Rock United Methodist Women are hosting their annual Yard Sale in the church fellowship hall on Friday and Saturday.  The church is located on Highway 56 across from White River Health Care.

The Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Women are hosting their annual Junque Jubilee in the Wayne Wood Activity Center at the church.  The church is located on Highway 56 across from the historic Trimble Log Cabin.

It’s also Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour.  There are lots of Calico Rock area artists on the tour this year.  This is a great annual driving tour of area artists giving folks an opportunity to visit the artists in their own studio.  For more information visit: http://offthebeatenpathstudiotour.com/
