Sage and Tom Holland Featured Artists May 28 at the Arkansas Craft Gallery

Arkansas Craft Guild members, Sage and Tom Holland will be Featured Artists at the Arkansas Craft Gallery, Memorial Day, May 28. Flame-worked bead making, or lampwork, is their art, and they have turned Mountain View into a center of learning about and collecting these beautiful beads and exquisite glass jewelry. Tom and Sage have taught workshops all over the world, most recently in France, on the Italian Island of Murano, the famous home of glass workers, in Hamburg, and Istanbul, as well as many workshops in the States.

They helped set up the glass studio for the Arkansas Craft School located on the Square in Mountain View, where they teach classes: May 18 for beginners, and May 19 and 20 for intermediate and advanced bead making.

Tom was inducted into the International Society of Glass Bead Makers Hall of Fame July 23, 2016 at the ISGB Gathering in New Orleans, for deepening knowledge of the history and art of glass beadmaking. Sage and Tom Holland are two of a handful of early American Glass Bead Makers who have been working with the medium since the late 1980’s. They met at an international Bead conference in Washington D.C. and eventually, after continuing to run into each other at other exhibits around the country, decided to join studios and get hitched. Tom Holland is a long standing comunity member on the Stone County Recycling Center Board and Sage is involved in The Bike Path for Mountain View master plan.

They are a regular stop on the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour, coming in September, and participate in the Artisan’s Market on the Square during Bean Fest, in October, 2 “don’t miss” events in Mountain View. Come to the Gallery on May 28 and visit with these two amazing artists! The Arkansas Craft Gallery is located at 104 E. Main St., in Mountain View, Arkansas, just off the Courthouse Square. Our hours are 10 am until 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
