Rebecca Wilson Ashcroft featured speaker for Hardy History Association Meeting

Rebecca Wilson Ashcroft will present “Hardy Schools” at the Hardy History Association Program Meeting Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Hardy Senior Center, 304 Johnston at 6:30p.m.  Ashcroft is a fourth generation Sharp County resident and started visiting Hardy when she was five years old.  After having lived in the area on and off since 1991, she finally unpacked her bags permanently in 2009.  She attended the University of Arkansas Fayetteville and Arkansas State University Jonesboro.  Her interest in Hardy schools stems from both her father and grandmother (as well as aunts and uncles) being graduates of the Hardy school.  Ashcroft will explore Hardy’s long history of educating its young residents as well as how, with the growth of the town, came the growth of the schools.  She will pay tribute to the persistent, dedicated and demanding teachers who guided students through not just academics but also award winning athletics. We invite anyone interested in the history of Hardy, the Spring River, and surrounding area to join us for topics of interest at each monthly meeting.  For more information, call 870-847-5273 or email HardyHistoryAssociation@gmail.com.
