Patricia Bergman, Featured Artist Dec. 16 at the Arkansas Craft Gallery

December 16 Patricia Bergman, Jeweler will be Featured Artist at the Arkansas Craft Gallery from 10-5. She continues to innovate her designs, as she works in silver, copper, and brass and travels to over 20 craft shows a year. She describes her process as follows:

“For the past 38 years, functional hair accessories continue to be my signature. The same design and fashion carries through in the jewelry, which is made using the same process. Transformed raw metal pieces of brass, copper and silver are what you see. With the help of my husband and son, I’m able to concentrate on what makes each piece my own design.

I draw images and random lines on the metal before it is acid etched. This continues to be my favorite part of the process. Using many metalsmithing tools, I decide how to cut or saw the metal to combine for riveting or soldering. Though being quite challenging for me, this is when I begin to see the results of much thought and manipulation. During the process, it is finally given a lasting patina finish.

As I discover the endless possibilities of metalsmithing, my work continues to change, giving me a sense of satisfaction through this creative process.”
