Ozarks Sports and Outdoor Expo Saturday, March 24 at Fulton County Fairgrounds

Tri—County Farm & Ranch, DHF Archeryrange, and W.R.D. Entertainment present the the Ozarks Sports & Outdoor Expo on Saturday, March 24 at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Salem Arkansas. The Fulton County Fair Association and the Salem Chamber of Commerce have a full day of events planned for all ages. Over 65 vendors will be located in the Salem Civic Center and on the Fulton County Fairgrounds.  The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will have the Fish Aquarium on site and will be doing demonstrations on Cleaning and Cooking Trout. There is no admission charge and everyone is invited to come out to visit with the vendors, attend the competitions and seminars, and enjoy the day. A wide array of food will be available on the fairgrounds for breakfast and lunch.

A popular event for the kids is the ATL/FX Special Pond Pro Fishing Derby. Due to the number of kids that will enter the Fishing Derby, coordinators are asking parents to pre-register children participating in the derby. There will be two age divisions—age 4-8 and 9-12. Leon’s Automotive will provide a $100 cash award to the winners of each age division. All participants can register for a $100 cash drawing sponsored by Barry Abney, Candidate for Fulton County Treasurer. Area School Shooting Sports Teams will participate in a competition held at the Fulton County Trap Range beginning at 9:00 a.m. Salem Pipe and Steel, Fulton County Judge Darrell Zimmer, and State Representative Scott Baltz will provide $600 in prize money for the winning schools.  Contact Scott Moody at 870-371-0070 for more information on the Shooting Sports Competition.

Razorback Archery will start the qualifying round for the 3-D Archery Shoot in the Walling Livestock Center on the fairgrounds at 9:00 a.m. There will be youth and adult divisions. Contact David Gibson at 870-710-2539 for more information on the archery shoot.

Janet Carson, Director of the University of Arkansas Master Gardener Program, will conduct seminars on Butterfly Gardens and Spring Flowering Bulbs beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickinbotham-Miller Exhibit Building. The Fulton County Master Gardeners will be promoting their tulip project for the City of Salem at the seminars. The Turkey Calling Contest will start at 1:00 p.m. in the Hickinbotham-Miller Building. Salem Auto Supply is the sponsor for the awards for the turkey calling contest. The contest will have three divisions—the NWTF Sanctioned Open Contest where NWTF members can earn points and receive cash awards, the Non-Sanctioned Youth Amateur Contest for youth age16 and under and Open Amateur Contest. There is no entry fee for the two amateur calling contests. The NWTF Sanctioned contest has a $40 entry fee with 100% payback for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Turkey callers are encouraged to pre-register by visiting the Fulton County Fair website, www.fultoncountyfair.org   or call the Fulton County Fair Office at 870-895-5565. Callers should check in by 12:45 p.m. The Spring River Chapter of the NWTF will help with the contest and for more information, contact Derek Hall at 870-371-1719.

The Izard County Stickshooters and the Arkansas Bowhunters Association will have the Archery Hoverball Game for kids set up on the fairgrounds throughout the day. Contact Dwayne Spangler at 870-373-8098 for more information.
