Handcrafted Evening in the Park Open House – July 13, 2018 in the Ozark Folk Center State Park Craft Village

Handcrafted Evening in the Park Open House – July 13, 2018 in the Ozark Folk Center State Park Craft Village

Creativity and craftsmanship are fine Ozark traditions. The artisans at the Ozark Folk Center State Park continue this tradition by creating fine functional and decorative handmade items in their workshops located in the park. On Friday, July 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Ozark Folk Center State Park will be hosting an evening Open House in the Craft Village.

“There is a special magic to the Craft Village during the evening hours,” said Jeanette Larson, Craft Director at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. “Soft breezes blow away the heat of the day and everybody seems to relax. Our handcrafted evening open house gives us a chance to share that wonderful time with everyone.”

During the Handcrafted Evening, artisans will share a side of their working studios not seen during the regular day.  Discuss with working crafters about how they learned their skills and where they find their inspiration.  Learn about their tools and workshops. Buy unique handcrafted items directly from the folks who are making them.

Shops that will be featured for the Handcrafted Evening on the lower level of the Village include the Chair Caning Shop, Jewelry Shop, Broom Shop, Doll Shop, Art Guild Cabin, Basket Shop and Apothecary Shop. On the upper level, the Glass Shop, Pottery Shop, Copper Shop, Woodcarving Shop, Fiber Arts Shop and Print Shop will be featured.

The Ozark Folk Center State Park is located at 1032 Park Avenue in Mountain View. Follow the signs to the Ozark Folk Center State Park, less than a mile from the Courthouse Square in downtown Mountain View.  The park may also be reached by taking Hwy 5/9/14 (Sylamore Ave) to Jimmy Driftwood Parkway, which leads directly to the park entrance.
