Ozark Folk Center State Park Opening Week Extravaganza Begins Tuesday April 11

The Ozark Folk Center State Park opens for the 2017 season this week. Beginning with the opening day of the Craft Village, Gift Shop, General Store, Skillet Restaurant and Smokehouse on Tuesday April 11, we have a celebration of crafts, music, gardens and folks planned for you.

There is plenty of parking in the big lot just off Jimmy Driftwood Parkway. Loco Ropes Highline Adventure is on one side of the parking lot; on the other side is the Visitor Information Center and General Store, where you can get a soda and answers to your questions while waiting for the shuttle to the Craft Village at the top of the hill.

The free shuttle will carry you up to the Homespun Gift Shop at the entrance to the Craft Village. The Gift Shop has lots of new consignments from crafts people from around the state, as well as tshirts and other Folk Center merchandise. Out the back door of the Gift Shop are the Craft Village; the Heritage Herb Gardens; and the Picnic Swing. The Smokehouse Snack Bar in the Village has sandwiches, ice cream and fried pies. For a full meal, try the Skillet Restaurant. Just follow the signs through the Administration Building.

This 2017 Concert Season kicks off with an evening of free entertainment on Thursday, April 13. Performances from Stone County’s Music Roots students will take center stage, with students playing traditional Ozark songs. Doors open to the public at 6:00 p.m. with the show starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Annual Craft Village Open House is Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15, 2017. The Village will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, with no admission charge during the open house.
