Old Independence Regional Museum is currently recruiting volunteers ages 12 and older
Old Independence Regional Museum is currently recruiting volunteers ages 12 and older. We are a non-profit organization whose staff is mostly volunteers. Volunteers are the heart of the operation since they are the people who greet the public, explain the exhibits, answer questions, accept payments, and give tours. We also have opportunities in special events and school programs. Volunteering offers the excitement of discovery, the opportunity to develop new skills, the reward of participating in a vital and growing organization. It also offers the chance to develop new friendships with people of similar interest. Though some volunteers bring specialized skills, all that is required is interest, enthusiasm and a willingness to work at least one 4 hour shift per month. Volunteering also provides experience for future employment reference, college scholarships, and community support.
Volunteers are requested to commit to a definite schedule of work and be dependable, responsible and prompt in fulfilling assigned duties. If you should be unable to fulfill your appointed time of service, you are asked to inform the Docent Coordinator as soon as possible.
The next volunteer training class begins Saturday, April 22nd in the Museum from 1:00- 4:00 pm. We will then assign additional training for each volunteer at a later date. Please RSVP by April 20th. All are welcomed to come join us and learn more of this important resource in our community. Light refreshments will be served.
