April 27, 2013 – Scalies & Slimies of Arkansas – Come to the pavilion to learn a bit about some of the reptiles and amphibians of the area. Frogs, toads, salamanders, lizards, turtles, and snakes will be on display and you can even touch some of them! Programs offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
May 4, 2013 – “Beyond The Basics” – Dutch oven cooking beyond the basics. We’ll prepare 3-4 dishes, including a bread, and a few other more advanced recipes. Fee of $20 – please call to register by April 29th. Workshop begins at 10 a.m. and ends around 2 p.m.
May 11, 2013 – Tourism Day – Free balloons, refreshments, door prizes, a grand prize, live music and more! Join us to celebrate National Tourism Week – fun for the whole family. Event will start at 10 a.m. at the Welcome Center. Grand Prize drawing will be at 4 p.m.
May 18, 2013 – “Pickin’ In The Park” – What’s more fun than listening to a group of musicians sit around and “jam”? Professionals and amateurs are invited to bring their instruments and meet at the Welcome Center to play a little gospel, old-time country, and bluegrass. Bring a lawn chair and come to play or just listen. Pickin’ will start about 1 p.m.
May 29, 2013 – Spring River Clean-up – Park staff and volunteers will float a section of the Spring River, do a little trash pickup and have lots of fun. Canoes provided by Many Islands Outfitter. Not for beginners. Call (870) 625-7364 to register and reserve your canoe by May 22nd. Meet at the Welcome Center at 8 a.m.
June 8, 2013 – Geo-caching 101 – Learn what geo-caching is and how to get started. Bring you GPS unit and we’ll enter waypoints, track routes, determine distance, and you’ll search for a couple of geo-caches in the park. Space is limited so reservations are required by June 1st. Call the park at (870) 625-7364 to sign-up. We’ll start at 10 a.m. at the Welcome Center.
June 22, 2013 – Kayaking 101 – Spend a few hours on the lake learning the basic paddling & kayaking maneuvers and then “graduate” to the Spring River in the afternoon. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets provided. Fee of $25 – space limited – reservations required. Class begins at 10 a.m. Call the park at (870) 625-7364 to make your reservations.
August 5-10, 2013 – 120th Annual Old Soldier’s Reunion – A week of fun with family and friends. Carnival rides, games, prizes, crafts, food, talent show, bingo, and much more starting at 6 p.m. each evening. Free access and parking. Sponsored by VFW Post 7831.

August 31, 2013 – 30th Annual Antique & Classic Car Show – Some of the area’s best antique and classic cars will be on display and judged by M.A.A.C.C. judges. Gates open at 9 a.m. and judging starts at 11 a.m. Prizes for “Best of Show”, “Longest Distance Traveled”, and “People’s Choice”. Dash plaques for first 50 entries. Entry fee $25. Come to the ball field area.
September 7, 2013 – 14th Annual Great Arkansas Clean-up – It’s time to do a little clean-up on the river after the long summer season. Join park staff and other volunteers for our annual clean-up of a section of the Spring River. Not for beginners! Canoes provided by Many Islands Outfitter. Space is limited – reservations required. October 5, 2013 – “Now We’re Cookin’” Dutch Oven Workshop – Learn to cook in a Dutch oven and get ready for the fall/winter campouts. Sign up for this hands-on workshop. October 26, 2013 – Doggie Daze – Big dogs, small dogs, dressed up dogs, and talented dogs come to Doggie Daze and show off you skills or training. Competition for obedience, agility, talent, costume, and more. All dogs must be on leash and have proof of current rabies vaccination. Small entry fee for participants.
