GRäNGES is having a Job Fair on July 11, at the Newport Business Resource Center ( 201 Hazel St.) from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Maintenance Mechanics & Electricians are in high demand.
George Kell Motors eighth Annual Car Show will be Saturday, July 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at George Kell Motors. All Proceeds go to the Jackson County Humane Society. Registration is $20 and for more information call Nia Pennington or Scott Cooper (870) 523-2792. Free spectator admission with the donation of dog food or a monetary donation to the Jackson County Humane Society.
The ASU-Newport Movies in the Park will be held on Saturday, July 14 featuring Star Wars: The Last Jedi from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Newport Business Resource Center, 201 Hazel Street. Free for all!
The Billy Jones Band will be performing at the next Arkansas Steel Associates Bluesday Tuesday Concert on Tuesday, July 17 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Front Street park. Free admission, concessions will be provided by the Downtown Newport Farmers Market. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Frankie’s Place, 306 Front Street
On Thursday, July 19, Harris Ford will be holding their 6th annual Golf Tournament at the Village Creek Golf Club. The tournament will be a 4 person Scramble, and the cost is $400 per team. Newport Campus of Central Baptist Church is proud to present Hank Parker, Professional Bass Fisherman and TV Host, July 21st at ASU-Newport. Join us at 6:00 p.m. for great food from Wild Bill’s Catfish and hear Mr. Parker speak. All proceeds from the event will go to the Cornerstone Transition Home. Safe Sitter sponsored by White River Health System, will be hosting a class for students sixth through eighth grade. It is designed to prepare students when they are home alone or watching younger siblings,or babysitting. The Class is July 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jackson County Library. On Wednesday, July 25, The Artist in U art workshops presented by Unity Health will be held for High School children (seventh through twelfth grades). Donna Hohn and Debra Jackson will do pet portraits from 10:30 to Noon and Dewanna McIntosh will teach a class from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Space is limited for both workshops, so please RSVP by calling 523-3618 to reserve your child’s spot.
The River Country Concert will feature The Memphis Yahoos on Thursday, July 26. Sponsored by M&P Banking, Insurance and Investment Services, the concert is free and fun for all ages. Show begins at 7 p.m. on the Terry Scoggins Memorial Stage in downtown Newport. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move to Frankie’s Place, 306 Front Street.
August 10, The Bright Star Children’s Theatre will be in Newport thanks to Farmers Electric. “Chicken Little” begins at 10 a.m. at the Jackson County Library, and “Alice in Wonderland” at 3:30 p.m. at the Newport Business Resource Center, 201 Hazel Street. Both shows are free!

The ASUN 5k Run/Walk is set for the August 11, at 6 p.m. Help raise money for student scholarships by running the certified course on the Newport campus. Registration is $15 and will include a t-shirt.
