John Kirkpatrick Featured Artist at the Arkansas Craft Gallery April 21
Saturday, April 21 the Arkansas Craft Gallery will host woodworker John Kirkpatrick as our Featured Artist. John has made canes, mortars and pestles, cutting boards, spoons and spatulas, lidded salt cellars, all with an emphasis on natural forms and live edges, each one unique. He’s perfected a natural wood rub with each purchase and includes it and a small piece of emery cloth, plus instructions for care of the wood. The Kirkpatricks will be in the Gallery’s Demonstration room from 10:30 to 4:30. John will describe his process and display the basic tools of his craft. They have a video to help them illustrate how logs are converted to rustic kitchenware. Come by and meet John and Rachelle of JK Woodworking from Quitman. You can see more of his work at www.facebook.com/JKWoodworkingAR.
The Gallery is the home of the Arkansas Craft Guild, a member cooperative promoting fine handcrafting in Arkansas since 1962. The Arkansas Craft Gallery’s hours are 10-5 and is located just off the Square at 104 East Main Street in Mountain View. The 56th Annual Arkansas Folk Festival is happening that weekend, as well as the Artisans Market on the Square, north of the Courthouse, which features 30 booths of arts and crafts by Guild members and their guests.
