LIBRARY INVITES PUBLIC TO CELEBRATE PI DAY

(Batesville, AR) Pi Day is celebrated internationally on March 14 (3.14). Pi (Greek letter π”) is
the symbol used to represent the ratio of any circles circumference to its diameter, which is
approximately 3.14. Pi day is a yearly opportunity for math fanatics to recount the infinite digits
of Pi and for the rest of us to eat pie.

While the Ancient Egyptians invented what we recognize as pie today, they also calculated the
decimal approximation of Pi to be (16/9)2 ≈ 3.16. Cleary, both pie and Pi have interested people
around the world for well over 4,000 years.

Celebrating this worldwide and ageold marvel locally, The Independence County Library will
observe Pi Day with the rest of the world on Monday, March 14, 2022. Please stop by for your
free Moon Pie between 9am and 6pm. Moon Pies are first come first served, one per patron, and
do not require a reservation.

The Independence County Library is located at 267 E. Main Street, Batesville, AR 72501 and is
open Monday Thursday, 9am 6pm, Friday, 9am 5pm, and Saturday, 9am4pm.
