Join us for the sweetest watermelons in the world and a festival that will take you back to events you enjoyed as a child. This fun festival is in July, and packed with booths filled with unique treasures and fun entertainment. Cave City’s watermelons aren’t touted as the sweetest in the world for no reason. One bite into one of these sweet, juicy melons makes it worth the trip. The rich, sandy soil that is exclusive to the 20-mile-radius surrounding Cave City is what gives the melons such a sweet flavor. In fact the Cave City’s watermelons are celebrated each year at the annual Cave City Watermelon Festival. Celebrating its 43rd year,  the 2023 Cave City Watermelon Festival officials are looking to draw thousands into Cave City for the celebration. This three-day event will include entertainment, a 5K run, pancake breakfast, parade, activities for kids and adults, and of course, a free melon feast, courtesy of the registered watermelon growers. There will also be a prize melon auction, and the proceeds will be donated to a charity. Last year the event was voted  festival of the year for the Ozark Gateway Region, and in 2017, the Festival was inducted into the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame by the Department of Arkansas Heritage. It’s a taste – and an experience you don’t want to miss.

Located 15 miles north of Batesville, Cave City has several retail shops in its historic downtown area. Travelers will also find antique stores and flea markets. The town is home to multiple banks, medical offices and pharmacy, a grocery store, several convenience stores and government offices.
