Jacob Wolf House Historic Site Tour

November 2 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

November 2nd 10am – 1pm

On Saturday, November 2 nd , Calico Rock Museum & Visitors Center will host a
short road-trip to Norfork to tour the historic structures at the Jacob Wolf House Historic
Site. Many are unaware that the structure built to serve as Izard County’s first courthouse
in 1829 still survives and is open to the public for tours. Not only is the county’s first
courthouse still standing on the property, the 1832 John Wolf Cabin is there, as well. This
cabin stood just across the river opposite Calico Bluff until the 1990s when it was
dismantled and moved to its current location and rebuilt. Both structures have recently
had major restoration work done to them.
During the tour, Site Manager Marlon Mowdy will thrill our group with the history of the
structures and the people who utilized them. Marlon Mowdy has had a long career with
the Arkansas Department of Heritage, having managed several sites which include
Davidsonville Historic State Park, and Hampson Archeological Museum State Park.
Our group will meet at Calico Rock Museum & Visitors Center at 10am and travel to
Norfork as a group using personal transportation. Sign -up early! This tour will be limited
to a specific number of participants.
To reserve your spot on the tour, call the Museum at (870) 297-6100.
