Picnic in the Park

Meets at: Visitor Center
Looking for some cool fun Wednesday, July 4th? Before the fireworks begin, stop by Davidsonville and join staff as we make and enjoy homemade ice cream the old fashioned way. As we wait for the ice cream to chill, we’ll make a splash by playing water balloon volleyball. Grab an outfit you don’t mind getting wet and bring the whole family to picnic and play before heading off to the evening’s festivities!
Tales from the Tombstones
July 6th 9:00-10:00am and 2:00-3:00pm
Cost: Free
Meets at: Visitor Center
Join Park Interpreter Geoffrey at the Visitor Center for a historic stroll to a cemetery over 200 years old. Learn what happened when death’s shadow came to call at Davidsonville, and why you should never cut down a cedar tree. This walk will leave promptly at the designated times and participants should come prepared for a hike in the woods.
Arkansas Game and Fish Youth Fishing Day
July 7th 7:00a.m-11:00a.m.
Cost: Free
Meets at: Pavilion One
Join members of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission along with other local fishing enthusiast clubs at Davidsonville on July 7th for a morning of fishing fun at the park. For more information, contact the park at 870-892-4708 closer to time.
All About (Historic) Explosions
July 7th 2:000p.m.-3:00p.m.
Cost: Free
Meets at: Historic Town Site
Join Park Interpreter Geoffrey for an explosive hour of history and weapons demonstrations. More than just an artillery demonstration, this talk will dress participants up and put them in the driver’s seat of an artillery drill from the 1800s. Discover how a cannon fragment became an artifact in the park’s visitor center and become part of an artillery crew for an afternoon. (Parental safety note, all kids are welcome. Live firing of the piece will only be conducted by park staff members.)
Discovery Day Camp
July 11th-13th 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m.
Cost: $60 per participant
Meets at: Education Center
Extra! Extra! Davidsonville’s silver artifacts have gone missing! Curious young day campers needed to help solve mysteries, engage in historic activities, and explore natural environments to find clues that lead to the missing treasure! Lunch and snacks for the three day long camp will be provided. Those age 8-12 are eligible to attend and this camp has limited space so early sign-ups are required. Call the park today for your reservation form and get ready to uncover a mystery!
