Community Square Dances at the Ozark Folk Center

Mountain View, Arkansas- -Community dances have long been a tradition in the Ozarks. What better way to shake off the winter doldrums than with a lively dance with great music and friends. The Ozark Folk Center State Park will host community square dances during the winter months for all who would like to attend.

The dances are free and open to the public every Tuesday night from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in the Music Auditorium.  Dances start Tuesday February 7 and run every Tuesday (weather permitting) through April 3.

“We have a great group of dancers that are part of our nightly performances during the regular season.” says Music Director Daren Dortin, “For anyone interested in learning to square dance or call squares, there is not a better group to learn from.”

Spaces for new dancers will be limited to openings for a select number of new male dancers for upcoming season. However, everyone is encouraged to join the fun on Tuesday nights, all winter long.

The mission of Ozark Folk Center State Park is to perpetuate, present and promote the Ozark way of life in an educational and enjoyable manner; through craft demonstrations, musical programs, the Heritage Herb Garden, workshops and other special events.
