WATTS HELPS BUILD FARMING EXHIBIT

The Calico Rock Museum Heritage & Visitor Center has received several unique tools that have been a tremendous asset to the new Farming Exhibit. Junior Watts, a strong supporter of the museum, has placed the tools on loan with the museum.

The tools include a rare Acetylene Generator. Carbide was placed in the glass container on top of the generator. Water was placed in the large metal barrel below. The handle on top opened a small door at the bottom of the glass container that allowed carbide to drop into the water.  This produced Acetylene gas which moved into the cylinder on the side of the barrel. The gas was released through a hose that was used to create a torch.

This rare piece was owned by Lindle Ducker at his garage in Pineville. Mr. Watts bought it at Mr. Ducker’s estate sale and has graciously loaned it to the museum for display. “Mr. Ducker was a genius. He could solve just about any problem and build just about anything, “Mr. Watts said. “I’m glad that these tools are being shown so that people can see them and learn what they are,” he added.
