Calico Rock Museum events and news this week
Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center extends our congratulations to local resident, Austin Pool, who was invited to perform on a Nashville radio station this past weekend. He did a great job and represented our community with pride!
This week, the Ministerial Alliance is hosting Community Holy Week Services at 12:00 noon Monday-Friday at the Calico Rock United Methodist Church. The services include a brief message and a fellowship lunch provided by area churches at no cost immediately following the service.
The museum will close at noon on Friday to observe Good Friday.
Saturday morning the Calico Rock Lions Club will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt. This year, the hunt will be located in Rand City Park at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
Work is progressing at the new art and science center. We should begin painting during the next two weeks, which is a major step forward. As work progresses across the street on the art and science center, we are making room for expansion in the heritage and visitor center. The museum board room is being relocated to the new center which will allow the Homestead exhibit to expand. This will make room for a new exhibit on farming.
The Murphy Gallery, which currently houses our art collection, will soon become a gallery for our history with artifacts and historic photos.
Looking forward, the museum will honor our community’s service in World War I with our Arkansas Heritage Month activity on Saturday, May 13. We will share more details closer to the event.
