Arkansas Craft School’s New Location to CornerStone Building on the Court Square is Still Progressing! (Posted by Ginger Smith)
Arkansas Craft School’s several years of negotiations to move to the Mountain View Square has paid off! Their first class in the building was a Color Theory class in March, and they were open for the Arkansas Folk Festival in April with tourists’ events even at the early stage of a work in progress, still flowing smoothly with their leaders all working diligently for this great endeavor to benefit all. They have actually held several workshops/events all on schedule during this time.
There is a weaving and fiber arts studio, and also workshops on pottery, jewelry (both glass and metal), children’s art and general art, photography and printmaking, and a library space offering resources on various crafts. They are taking donations of books in good condition. Anyone who wishes to donate new or almost new art supplies, books, materials, tools and art/craft supplies is deeply appreciated.
Arkansas Craft School is a 501.c.3 organization. Several people have become members of the new membership program with levels from Basic ($48 annually) to Benefactor (up to $2,500 annually), and there are corporate sponsorships of $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000 that can be made to sponsor specific projects. They are also taking suggestions for events and other use of the new space from everyone. Feel free to contact them with any ideas/suggestions.
ACS is dedicated to the preservation, appreciation and instruction of crafts indigenous to the Arkansas Crafts. Their goals are ones that inspire a life time appreciation of and support for the arts. They also offer Continuing Educations Credits for classes attended.
