Arkansas Craft Gallery to feature a sweet chance to learn more about bees and the “Bee Whisperer”
August 17 from 10 to 5 at the Arkansas Craft Gallery, meet Joyce and Desmond Simmons, owners of Lake in the Willows Apiary, Scott, Arkansas, where they tend over 75 beehives.  This is a chance to taste samples of their delicious honey products, including flavored creamed spreads made by Joyce. They will have a glass observation beehive and a video that explains their harvest methods and commitment to saving bees from extinction.  The Simmons family makes a variety of beeswax candles, a beeswax wood conditioner, as well as flavored lip balms. Desmond has been called “the Bee Whisperer” due to his affinity with the little buzzers.  They have been featured in the magazine Arkansas Food & Farm, Summer 2018 issue. If you’re interested in becoming a beekeeper, getting Desmond’s advice would get you started on the right path.

The Arkansas Craft Gallery is home to the Arkansas Craft Guild, a member cooperative that has been promoting handcrafted in Arkansas since 1962. Just off the Square at 104 E. Main, on hwy. 66, shopping includes a wide variety of arts and crafts.

This appearance coincides with the Fifteenth Annual Mountains, Music, & Motorcycles festival starting Friday, Aug. 16 and continuing through Aug. 18 on the Court Square, downtown Mountain View.  Blues musicians are a change of pace from the usual folk music in front of the Courthouse. Riders enjoy the beautiful winding roads of the National Forest and visits to outlying towns.
