Arkansas Craft Gallery Events for July 2018
Artist Yun Kim will be in the Arkansas Craft Gallery between 1 and 3 Saturday, July 21, demonstrating her expressive style of painting using exuberant color on canvas. Kim enjoys working in several different media – acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, collage, and charcoal. Her subjects include people, animals, waterfalls, creeks and landscapes, however, any subject can be captured by her eye for color and detail. She uses her own photos as subject matter, then returns to her studio to work. It’s a converted garage, a space to inspire her creativity. Working while listening to music, she says, “Painting helps to soothe my soul.” Her ability to capture movement in her brushwork is evident in her waterfalls, creeks, and the manes and tails of galloping horses. She works realistically, but her brushwork is loose and impressionistic, capturing the fleeting aspect of changing light.
She has a facebook page devoted to her art called Created in the Ozarks, where she shares her art and offers prints for sale. She participates in the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour, Sept. 15-17 where folks visit her home with her husband Bobby Hensley not far from Mountain View. Some examples of her artwork are on display and for sale at the Gallery, as a member of the Arkansas Craft Guild for the last 8 years. The Gallery is open 10 to 5 Tuesday through Saturday, at 104 East Main in Mountain View, just off the Square.
