The City of Highland offers vacationers/tourists a variety of lakes for fishing and swimming, a city park, and makes for a great place to visit for a day or stay for a lifetime!  A great place to relax and enjoy family life, it is in close proximity to a lot of shopping and many other vacation adventures in Sharp County. Highland is home to Artisan’s Grill, Rebel Time-Out pizzeria, and Pill Box Pharmacy/Cafe, all musts for your vacation food stops.

The Strawberry River runs through this area, as well, with its natural beautiful meandering and offering water activities for the young and younger alike, always a great vacation plan.  There are accommodations all in the area with rentals for all your needs.

A short trip on up the road is Evening Shade, a delightful small city in Sharp County that was fictionalized in a television comedy starring Burt Reynolds entitled A Place Called Evening Shade several years ago.
