State Park Field Explorer Day, May 21st, 2017
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Come celebrate National Kids to Parks Day with the staff of Davidsonville Historic State Park and become a State Park Field Explorer! Kids young at heart and young in age will hike, float, and discover many of the opportunities that the state parks provide and become some of the dedicated few who can call themselves Field Explorers. This day long program is free but early sign-up is required. Call the park to register and bring good walking shoes, a sack lunch, a water bottle and a willingness to get outside and learn.

Dutch Oven Desserts Demonstration, May 26th
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Join Park Interpreter Geoffrey for an evening of delicious dessert creation. Participants will help cook up and enjoy several historic and modern day desserts using cookware and recipes common in Davidsonville’s time. Families and those with kids will get the most out of this interactive and tasty program.

Hands of History-Letter Writing Edition, May 27th , 2017

Step back in time and visit Davidsonville Historic State Park for a learning experience you can get your hands on. Come visit the site of the first post office in the territory and meet Postmaster (and Park Interpreter) Geoffrey. The postmaster will give you all the knowhow and supplies needed to write with a quill pen and ink, and send you on your way with a letter ready to deliver to friends, family, or anyone else you choose.

Owl Prowl and Night Hike, May 27th, 2017
7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Half the park is after dark. Join Park Interpreter Geoffrey at the Visitor Center for a sunset hike and owl prowl around Davidsonville. Learn about the nocturnal hunters who call the park home, listen to their calls, and perhaps catch a glimpse of an owl making its nightly rounds. Please bring flashlights and wear close-toed shoes.

Black Powder Demonstration, May 28th , 2017
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Join Davidsonville Staff and hear history roar. Learn how Arkansas residents 200 years ago hunted wildlife to provide food for their families and protected themselves while in dangerous situations. Come learn how black powder muskets and cannon were used and see them in operation.
