Calico Rock Museum Art Center Expansion On Track
Construction is well underway at the Calico Rock Museum Art & Science Center expansion. The walls for the galleries have been constructed and sheetrock installed. The stairs leading to the Loft have been reconstructed. The building has been cleared and cleaned. We will complete the installation of sheetrock on the main floor, demolition some areas in the Loft, install sheetrock on the Loft areas, complete construction of the board room on the Loft, and finish all the drywall. This will prepare the building for electrical upgrades, improving the bathrooms, and preparing everything for paint.We hope to open the new art center around April 1, depending on funding and construction progress.Once the art center is completed, we will move all of our works of art into the new art center, open our new retail store in the front of the art center, and relocate our board room from our present building onto the Loft of the art center. The present board room will be converted into historical exhibits, to help alleviate our overcrowding. We will also convert the art gallery into historical exhibits while keeping that space for larger gatherings.Once we get the new art center opened and the historical exhibits expanded, our plan will be to raise money to open the new science center. We have partnered with the Museum of Discovery to include some wonderful interactive exhibits in this space, so we are really excited about getting that space opened, depending on funding.To view photos of the work visit our website at:—
