Work Continues on New Art Center at Calico Rock Museum (Posted by Ginger Smith)
This week, work progressed on the new Art & Science Center. There has been a lot of cleaning up inside the building, some demolition, and preparation. The stairs leading to the Loft have been rebuilt and are no longer too steep to navigate. The walls separating the individual art galleries have been framed and Sheetrock has been installed.
We plan to finish the Sheetrock, install new electrical services, make repairs to the roof, complete some carpentry work, and paint both inside and outside.
We invite you to take a look at our progress at:

We are working to raise the money to complete the work on Phase I so we can open the Art Center. Our target date is April 1, 2017, but that will depend on funding.
In related news, the museum has formally joined the Arkansas Discovery Network. We join the Amazeum in Bentonville, Museum of Discovery in Little Rock, Mid-America Science Center in Hot Spring, and others in providing premier science and discovery experiences to Arkansans. This is an important step forward for our museum.
We have entered into a partnership with the Museum of Discovery that will help us provide our first science exhibit, hopefully later this year. More details will be announced later.
Great things are happening at your Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center. Thank you for your support.
