Celebrate New Year’s Day with a Special Hike with Jacksonport State Park Friends/Guides (posted by Ginger Smith)

Celebrate New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1, 2017, by joining with park staff at Jacksonport State Park for a special hike along the Tunstall River Walk. What better way to kick start those New Year’s resolutions than spending an hour or two with family and friends, enjoying nature’s beauty, while making your body healthy all at the same time.

First Day Hike – Hiking Into The Past

At 2:00 p.m., we will take a low impact hike along the Historic Tunstall River Walk.  The hiking area is very level and breaks can be taken if needed at any time. We will meet at the trail head; so look for the white park vehicle just as you come over the levee.  Items to bring on the hike are bottled water, snacks, binoculars, cameras and birding books should you wish to identify the birds. (Tip: The Tunstall River Walk is a great place to see woodpeckers and Northern Cardinals!) This 1.2 mile Walk is level and maintained year round.  This particular area runs along the White River and is beautiful.  This hike is appropriate for all ages.

This hike is a great way to begin the New Year!  We look forward to seeing you there!
