The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce and 2019 Water Carnival sponsors have announced the details of the 76th White River Water Carnival to be held on Sept.7 at Riverside Park in Batesville.
“The theme of this year’s carnival is Summer Forever. As summer-related activities begin to wind down, we wanted to celebrate some of the things that make summer great: barbecue, water slides, classic cars and water sports,” said BACC Tourism Director Kyle Christopher.
“New this year is the four-story, 100-foot-long patriot inflatable water slide. This is one of the
largest inflatable slides in the world. This is guaranteed to be a blast for kids and adults. The Bounce House Extravaganza will also be back this year. While there is no admission fee for the event, these attractions do require the purchase of an armband for $10,” said Christopher.
Favorites like Smokin’ on the White BBQ Championship, River City Cruisers’ Car Show, Kid Zone, and Water Carnival Parade will take place at Riverside Park.
Water events will include several ski and wakeboard demonstrations and the return of the professional hydro flight team Aquafly of Austin, Texas. Hydro flight rides will also be available to the public for purchase.
A live, professional deejay will be on-site to accompany the water demonstrations and to entertain the crowd all day.
Parade entry forms, vendor applications, and a full schedule of events can be found at www.whiteriverwatercarnival.com.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Lacy, 34, spent most of her life in the hills of Lawrence County. Today, she lives in Cave City, the home of “World’s Sweetest Watermelons,” in what’s known as the Prince Matlock house. Its former owner helped create what’s known as the Cave Courts where the city’s cave lies above the Crystal River. He fashioned his home out of the same rocks and materials that are found among the cave’s property, and she feels blessed to now be its caretaker for many more years to come.
