“Authentic means it’s the “real deal.” Our Mountain Man Rendezvous is a sanctioned event of the Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association because it is authentic. This group of dedicated men and women take reenacting seriously. They camp in period tents, dress in period clothing, and they live for the week just like the early settlers did.

In the 1800’s, settlers and pioneers lived long distances from each other and from “civilization.” They relied on what they could make, grow, find. They traded what they had for the things they couldn’t produce. To stay connected to the world and have a break from their day-to-day routine, they started meeting together to camp out for a time, trade, share stories, and fellowship. They called their get-togethers a “rendezvous” using the French word for a meeting at a particular place and time,” from their newest press release.
