Tickets for “The Grand Independence Musical Revue,” the Old Independence Regional Museum’s fundraiser will take place at 7:00 p.m. on August 30 in Brown Chapel at Lyon College. A variety of music will be provided by Danny Dozier and Pam Setser, Friendship Baptist Senior Choir, Highlander Youth Singers, and Scott Wood and Larry Bentley as “The Brothers of Blues”. “I am happy to be a supporter of our wonderful museum,” stated performer Danny Dozier, “and I hope to provide music that you will enjoy at our benefit concert.”
Tickets will be available for $15.00 at the museum, Natalie’s, Fox Creek BBQ, Scott and Stanley Wood, and the main branches of Citizens Bank and First Community Bank. “Fundraisers are essential to the museum,” said museum director Amelia Bowman, “not only do they provide needed funds for operations; they also create a great opportunity to connect with the community.”
Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Items from the museum gift shop will available for purchase in the chapel foyer. In addition to event tickets, chances to win an overnight stay in Branson at the Lodge of the Ozarkswith tickets for two to:the Doug Gabriel Show, the Pierce Arrow Show, the Veterans Memorial Museum, and The World’s Largest Toy Museum! Drawing chances will be available in advance for $2.00 each or $15.00 for 20 chances. A special offer of $25.00 for tickets spanning fingertip to fingertip will be available at the door only. Winner does not have to be present to win.
All proceeds will benefit the museum. “Old Independence Regional Museum has been very fortunate in having community support since its opening” said museum Board President Mary Ann Marshall. “We hope the community will continue their loyal support by attending our fundraiser.”
The program will be free and open to the public. Normal museum hours are: Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for seniors and $1.00 for children. The museum is located at 380 South 9th street, between Boswell and Vine Streets in Batesville.
Old Independence is a regional museum serving a 12-county area: Baxter, Cleburne, Fulton, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Marion, Poinsett, Sharp, Stone, White, and Woodruff. Parts of these present-day counties comprised the original Independence County in 1820’s Arkansas territory.
