Mountain View, Arkansas – – August 26-September, 2014 is Arkansas State Park’s Legacy Week. At the Ozark Folk Center State Park, we are celebrating our legacy and connecting with our roots by sharing our traditions of hands on learning. Spend time with our crafts people and learn how to make things with your own hands. You will be able to learn how to turn a top on a lathe and then throw it, dip a candle, make a corn-husk doll, stitch your own quilt, weave a scarf and so much more. All week long, we are featuring hands-on opportunities in the craft shops. In addition to our regular Tuesday- Saturday week, the Craft Village will be open Sunday and Monday, August 31 and September 1 for the Labor Day Holiday from 10 am to 5 pm. If you get hungry while you are visiting the Craft Village, grab a bit of lunch at the Smokehouse or treat yourself to one of their famous fried pies with a scoop of ice cream. The Skillet is the place for more substantial fare. If you are looking for a place to stay while you’re here, the Cabins at Dry Creek offer hospitality and comfort in a wooded setting just down the hill from the Craft Village. Also during this weekend will be our Tribute to Grandpa Jones on Friday and Saturday evenings. Join us to listen to Ramona Jones and the Jones Family Band and Doyle Dykes perform in the Auditorium at 7 pm, tickets are just $12 for adults and $7.50 for children 6-12. Then on Saturday, Kathy Mattea will be our featured performer for the evening with Ramona Jones and Jones Family Band opening the night’s show beginning at 7 pm. Tickets for Saturday are $20 for general admission. Doors open at 6 pm each night.
Admission to the Craft Village is only $12 for adults and $7.50 for children 6-12. We have a family pass for just $29.50. Parking is always free and the shuttle bus offers easy access to all areas of the park.
