EMS Week Celebrates Dedication
This year marks the 40th time the people of the United States have come together to celebrate the EMS profession – especially the EMTs and paramedics who provide the backbone of the pre-hospital care in this nation. The American College of Emergency Physicians has designated the week of May 18-24, as National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. This year’s theme is: “EMS: Dedicated. For Life.”
EMS is there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, treating people where they work, live, and play. EMS is an extension of medical care beyond the doors of the hospital and into the community. The providers are highly trained, carry specific medications, and can take care of you for the immediate emergency and get you to the hospital to get the definitive care needed.
