Candle Making

Meeting Place: Courthouse

09:00 am – 03:00 pm

Did you know Powhatan didn’t have electricity until the 1940s? Join a park interpreter anytime between 9-3 to learn how the early residents of Powhatan lit up the dark Arkansas nights and make your very own candle. Join us any time between 9 and 3 to hear the history and make your very own candle to take home. All ages encouraged to participate, but children should be supervised by parents.

Victorian Dutch Oven Workshop

Admission: $25 per person

In the 19th century, homes lacked electricity and gas to see with or cook food. How’d they do it then? Why, over the fire! Come learn several recipes from the Victorian dinner table and stay to eat them! Participants will leave with a recipe booklet and the know-how of 19th century cooking! Fee includes all materials. Trial by Jury Dinner

Are you a fan of TV shows that portray trials? Ever wanted to “object” in a courtroom? After enjoying a home cooked meal and making dessert, guests will take part in a trial that occurred in the same courtroom. Dress casual, or wear your favorite 19th century costume.
