Do you like to fish, go to movies, sew, paint, hunt or play ball?

If so, there is a child that would love to hang out with YOU!

Learn more about mentoring a child/youth in need at a “Lunch and Learn” presentation hosted by

Big Brothers Big Sisters on Thursday, March 28th at

First Community Bank’ s Main Branch location in the

George Rider Community Room.

There will be 3 FREE lunches at 11:00, 12:00 and 1:00 for anyone interested in learning more about mentoring, what it takes to become a Big Brother or Sister and the requirements to participate. There is no obligation to become a BIG if you attend. We just want to share the stories of the children that are waiting for a FRIEND like YOU!

Information about BBBS

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest one-to-one mentoring organization in the US. The local BBBS chapter has over 20 children waiting for a mentor to hang out with them and make them feel loved and special. These children just need someone to encourage them and let them know they are important and can achieve anything they want in life. Just a few of the kids waiting….

Jessica is a 12 year old wanting a Big Sister who will help her with cheerleading and sports. She is shy at first but warms up quickly. Jessica has been raised by her grandparents who are now having a hard time managing 4 children. They would love for Jessica to be matched with someone that can help her navigate her teen years. She needs a Big Sister who will answer questions about boys and all the changes she is going through.

Taylor is 8 and attends West school. She is super sweet and very sensitive. Her family is big and when there is fighting she gets very upset. Taylor needs time away from all the siblings and someone that will help build her confidence. Plus, she needs some help in MATH – not her favorite subject. Her math grade is dropping fast, but she excels in all her other classes!

Stephanie is a 16 year old who lost her dad a few years ago. She has had a hard time coping with the loss. Stephanie is a typical teenager just needing someone to talk to and do girl stuff with. Her life has been tough but she has BIG dreams. She just needs someone to stand beside her and show her how to make those dreams come true.
