Introduction to Basket Weaving at Arkansas Craft School August and November 2018

Introduction to Basket Weaving with Jeannine Hornsby

In this one-day workshop with grand champion basket weaver Jeannine Hornsby, you will learn to make a simple market basket that is both beautiful and functional. After shaping a basic bottom for the basket, participants will create ‘chicken feet’ and set up spokes. As you weave, you will cut and tuck, then rim the basket and attach an oak swing handle that is 10” wide. You will embellish the exterior of your basket with Cherokee Wheels, which add a grace note to this design. This basket size is 10” X 10” X 9”. This workshop is appropriate for people new to basket making as well as those who wish to learn this particular style.
