Batesville Stop for “Vote For Roads” Issue 1 Town Hall

March 13, 2020 (Batesville, AR) The Arkansas Highway Commission will make Batesville an upcoming stop in its tour of public meetings to discuss Issue 1 on March 30th from 5:30-8:30 pm at UACCB’s Independence Hall. The issue to retain a one-half percent sales tax for roads and bridges will be on the general election ballot in November.

Residents will be invited to review several large maps of highway construction draft proposals by the Arkansas Department of Transportation and learn of the impact, pass or fail. Arkansas Highway Commissioners will also be in attendance to answer questions after the event.

Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Crystal Johnson said, “We do not have adequate resources for our roads as it stands now. The only way to continue moving forward is with a state-wide agreement for consistent and adequate resources. It is important that our community is educated and has the opportunity for input on this issue.”
