You Don’t Want to Miss Fun Classes in July and August at Arkansas Craft School!
Feature Fiber Art: Slow Stitch Collage
Fiber Artist Antzee Magruder is teaching “Slow Stitch Collage” at the Arkansas Craft School July 14 & 15, 2018. In this course, Antzee leads her students through the creation of highly original fiber art pieces, starting with fabrics as the medium, or support. From there, students learn how to incorporate beads, fabric, buttons and other found objects into unique and beautiful works.
Antzee’s fascination with fabrics started in childhood when she learned to knit, crochet, embroider and sew with her Mother and Grandmother. Then, upon the discovery of art quilting, she began to treat the patterns in fabric like paint, adding handwork to create compositions with vibrant colors and details. The results are often abstract, rich in textures, workmanship and skill. Living in West Memphis, AR, Antzee’s work is held in various collections and is exhibited widely. She is also deeply committed to furthering the arts in society, serving on multiple boards supporting the arts and offering instruction to share her gifts with other fabric artists!
