Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center Improvement Projects Taking Shape
This winter, the Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center has been completing lots of construction and improvement projects. These projects are taking shape as we prepare for tourist season and the opportunity to host the Arkansas Museums Association Annual Conference in late March.
In the Tomlinson Art & Science Center, the Windgate Studio is now completed. This classroom is equipped for art and science programs, including adult education programs.
The historic Coal House has been completely renovated with new carpeting and furnishings to house the Easton Education Center. This premier facility will be a great location for corporate retreats, trainings and meetings.
The greatest attention has been given to the Heritage & Visitor Center. A new Winter Camp exhibit has been installed by Jill Easton and Billy and Cathy Bennett. The front display window is now complete, the Artisan Gift Shop has been expanded, a new Information-Technology Center has been completed, along with the addition of a new Calico Landing exhibit and river railroad diorama. There will be completely new exhibits on the railroad depot and schoolhouse.
Improvements are continuing over the next few weeks. We hope you will come visit to see all the changes.
