Summer Camps at The Studio for the Arts

“I’m bored,” is a phrase you’ll never have to hear this summer if you let The Studio take control of summer boredom. The Studio for the Arts will hold a full summer of camps at its location at 1401 Hwy. 304 East in Pocahontas. Call to register at 870-892-0030. All camps are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a morning snack. Camps are from ages 6 to 16 unless otherwise specified. Campers should bring a sack lunch. For extended activities from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or anything beyond 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., contact the Studio office for special pricing.
June 8 – 12 Going Green - $49.00
Learn how to make a garden plot, watch a seed grow and plant your own. Learn about green life thru experiments and games. Campers will plant a flower garden and it will be dedicated to “Going Green Camp 2009”.
June 15 - 19 Manners Camp – $49.00
Learn how to write thank-you notes, introduce yourself and others. Learn how NOT to eat like a caveman! Enjoy a “soiree” with your new friends and your parents at the end of the week.
June 22 – 26 Creativity Camp –$49.00
Don’t know which one of the fine arts you love the best? Do them all at everyone’s favorite camp! This year’s theme is “Rock n’ Roll 50’s”. Campers will rock around the clock in their poodle skirts and ducktails.
June 29 – July 3 Sing and Celebrate - $49.00
A week of uplifting, positive singing and basic movement leads to a performance for parents at the end of the week. Campers will do a community service project as they learn America is a beautiful place to be.
July 6 – 10 Ballet Camp - $100.00
Guest instructor Stacy Hassel, freelance professional from North Carolina will instruct intermediate ballet students. Special boys strength training, jumping and turning section. Open to Ballet II, Pre-Pointe and Pointe level students only.
July 6 – 10 Christmas in July - $65.00
This is an arts and crafts camp where campers make their own gifts to give away at Christmas time. Each song filled day is a new gift from the heart. (Price includes basic supplies)
July 13 – 17 Drama Camp - $49.00
Campers learn aspects of acting and stage work as they prepare for a presentation at the end of the week. Imagination abounds as students work out their own scenes while learning terminology and performance.
July 20 – 24 Shakespeare Camp - $49.00 (Ages 8 and up)
Travel to Stratford-on-Avon to learn about “the Bard”. Campers will do famous scenes from Shakespeare’s works, learn stage sword combat and enjoy a Renaissance Festival at the end of the week.
July27 -30 Cooking Camp - $70.00 (Ages 8 & up.)
Learn kitchen safety, hygiene and more than just how to boil water with Imperial chef Shane Cummings. You’ll make your own snacks throughout the day. Campers serve their home-made dinners to parents at the end of the week. (Price includes cooking supplies and family dinner for 2.)
August 3 – 7 A Little Taste of Broadway Camp - $49.00
Guest instructor Elizabeth Bourgeret of Character Productions in St. Louis brings her award winning camp to The Studio. Campers learn songs and choreography to upbeat Broadway tunes in preparation for the performance at the end of the week. |
