Janine’s Café Offers Lunches To Go

Sandwiches, Soups, Salads Available for Fast Pick-Up

Janine Winters Café at 991 Batesville Boulevard is making it easier for area residents to enjoy her acclaimed lunches. Winters, well-known as a chef, food educator, herb farmer, and culinary entrepreneur, opened her café over two years ago and quickly developed a clientele for her one-of-a-kind gourmet sandwiches, soups, and salads. Ozarks magazine observed that Winters’ “instinctive ability to combine ingredients and balance flavors and textures elevates food preparation to the level of art.”

Winters will be preparing sandwiches and salads packaged and ready to go and soups in microwaveable containers. Individuals or groups can call or fax to order in advance. Discounts will be offered for large orders. The addition of prepared-to-go versions of many of her most popular items is in response to many requests from individuals with short lunch hours and from businesses that frequently send out for multiple lunches.
Winters will continue to offer her usual menu of made to order sandwiches and salads for café customers. Dining at the cafe is available indoors or outdoors in the screened in dining area.

The prepared-to-go lunch menu will feature turkey, ham, tuna, chicken salad, and veggie sandwiches; an assortment of salads; and a daily soup special. Café items will continue to feature gourmet cheeses and meats; fresh baked breads and rolls, many from Serenity Farm Breads; the freshest produce available including organic local tomatoes when available; and Winters’ signature herbs. Desserts, some also from Serenity Farm, and beverages will also be available and ready-to-go.

Winters explains that the new approach recognizes that “many people who work in town are unable to make it to our Southside location for lunch or unable to wait while lunch items are prepared for takeout. This way local diners will be able to get gourmet lunches fast and at affordable prices.” Winters plans to send out regular fax messages to interested businesses and individuals announcing lunch specials.

Janine’s Café is located inside Cooking Secrets, her gourmet foods and utensils shop. Cooking Secrets carries a full line of international cheeses and meats, Winters Park Farm fresh herbs packed in olive oil, baked goods from Serenity Farm, a large selection of coffee beans, and frozen soups and dinner items. The Café is open from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Cooking Secrets stays open until 5:00 p.m. for “on the way home” shoppers.
