New Business on Main Street in Batesville Combines Art, Music, and Massage Therapy
When Deb Dalwrymple decided to move Batesville, she had a vision. The art photographer, a fixture in the Heber Springs arts community, had just completed her training as a massage therapist at Massage Works in Mountain View. Dalwrymple wanted to create a space that could accommodate both passions and reflect her eclectic approach to both healing and the arts. With help from Main Street Batesville she found an ideal home for her dream at 363 E. Main Street and, several weeks later, opened Healing Grounds: A Unique Experience.
The comfortable interior includes Dalwrymple’s massage studio as well a spacious gallery and performance space. The gallery currently features the owner’s own photography, but plans are to include work by area artists, including Heber Springs painter Steve James. Dalwrymple’s photography focuses on landscapes, architectural studies, and unique perspectives on familiar images. Her work has been displayed at a number of galleries in Heber Springs; she was also a driving force in the development of that community’s monthly gallery walks. In addition to serving as a gallery, the space will host acoustic musical performances, poetry readings, and performance art. The Batesville acoustic duo, January Falls, currently performs during the 2nd Friday Downtown Wander and Wonder Walks. Dalwrymple also plans to introduce a regular calendar of workshops in the healing arts after the first of the year, including Herbal Teas, Tibetan Bowl Sound Therapy, and Group Meditation.
Healing Grounds is currently open Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Massages are also available by appointment evenings and Saturdays. Information is available at healinggrounds@yahoo.com or 501-827-0363
