The World Fast Draw Association will hold its Index Championship in Mountain View this month, drawing competitors from across the nation and possibly from around the world.
The event will be held June 20-22 at the Stone County Fairgrounds.
The first evening, 6-8 p.m., will feature a “celebrity shoot” involving local elected officials and others taking aim at targets and racing the clock for the best time.
World championship action takes place Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Activities will take place outdoors if possible, so spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Admission to the fairgrounds will be $2 per person. There will be a food vendor on-site.
The Fast Draw shooting sport combines a well-tuned single-action revolver, full-powder blanks or wax bullets, and a lightning-quick draw to create the fastest timed sport in the world.
The World Fast Draw Association was formed in 1976 when the Mid-Western and Western Fast Draw Associations merged, and is one of the largest sanctioning bodies in the sport of Fast Draw.
