The Civil War Comes to Jacksonport!
Walk through time and experience the Civil War through Jacksonport’s newest traveling exhibit, “Civil War Arkansas, 1861-1865”. Created through a partnership between the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, the Old State House Museum, and the Arkansas Humanities Council, the exhibit features a timeline of the events which unfolded in Arkansas during five years of war. Each panel features stories and images throughout Arkansas and chronicles the state’s involvement in that bloody conflict.
The exhibit made its debut in 2011 and will travel throughout Arkansas until 2015 as part of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. It will be on display at the Jacksonport State Park Courthouse Museum from May 1st until May 30th. Admission to the museum is free of charge.
Through Amendment 75 Arkansas State Parks receives funding from a conservation sales tax of 1/8th of one percent. This funding source provides money for special projects, events, programs and maintenance repairs at all of our state parks. Thank you for your support of the Arkansas State Park system.
