Jacksonport State Park is conducting a Soap Making Workshop on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Making soap dates back to the time of the Romans. Over time the skill of making soap developed from a basic soap to fragrant soaps. Hand milled soap is scented soap made from a basic soap. Participants learn to make the scented soap by using fragrant oils and botanicals from plants. Hand milled soaps can be easily made in your own kitchen. The soaps, you make in the workshop, are great gifts for friends and family. After the workshop, you can tour the courthouse.

The cost of the program is $20 per person. There is a limit to the number of participants for the workshop, so make your reservations early. Please make your reservations by January 22, 2014. All materials are provided. The program hours are from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and will be held in the courthouse.
