MUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS’ CLEMMONS INVITED

TO JUDGE PIONEER DAYS SING-OFF AND PARADE

Horseshoe Bend Theatre’s “Music in the Mountains Show” founder, director, and star Melodie Clemmons has been invited to judge the up-coming Pioneer Days Parade and Sing-Off as a part of the Pioneer Days Festivities in Melbourne, Arkansas on Saturday, May 4, 2013. The Sing-Off is sponsored by the Melbourne Lions Club, and begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Bandstand following the parade.

Clemmons has performed on stage her entire lifetime, both as a single act and a part of many bands and country music shows in East Texas, Houston, Texarkana, and many venues in southwest Arkansas. She founded the “Music in the Mountains Show” in Horseshoe Bend in 2006, and in addition to emceeing the show is lead vocals and keyboard for the HWY 289 Band. The “Music in the Mountains Show” has become a premier attraction to the north Arkansas area and brings in musicians and entertainers from many states to perform.

Clemmons has invited some close friends in the music industry to join her in judging these events. Doug Driesel, owner of Lake Paradise Studios, Cherokee Village will serve as judge. Doug is an award winning producer, and toured many years with stars including Mickey Gilley 88-91. He is an accomplished musician in his own right, managing many acts nationwide. Bonnie Sweet of Hardy was also chosen by Clemmons to serve as third judge. Bonnie had her own country music show “Bonnie Sweet and the Ozark Jubilee” from 89-95, and still performs at many venues as a single act. Bonnie also can also boast of being the mother of Phillip Sweet of the award winning group “Little Big Town”.

The Sing-Off will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Band Stand. You may contact Gaila Holowell (870)291-2706 for more information and entry forms.
