Exploring Izard County News

We had a great turnout on May 26th at Knob Creek for the Spring Sing event. Great music from the Cooper Brothers, Ben Cooper, the Garlands and Dana Haggard! Hope you can make it for this year’s “Knob Creek Country Christmas” event!

We made this month’s “Mountain Stewards” monthly newsletter! Don Wells, founder of Mountain Stewards, included a paragraph about our recent “Trail of Trees” Road-Trip as well as a photo of the two “grafted” trees along Jumbo Road. The newsletter is attached for your convenience.

This Friday, June 7th at 6pm, Exploring Izard County along with several other businesses and organizations is helping to sponsor the 2013 Spring Jubilee which was rescheduled from April 27th due to inclement weather. We hope you’ll join us in the gorgeous Izard County Outback for fantastic music by some great local artists including songwriting sensation, David Lynn Jones, the Outlaw Billy Don Burns, Chelsea Savage Vanscoder, Comfortable Brother, and others. The event is very affordably priced and is a public event held on private property along Piney Fork Bayou (also known as Little Piney Creek) near Antioch. We’ll be giving away a few t-shirts from our “Trail of Trees” Road-Trip! For more information and a map to the event, please visit this site.

Over the past few weeks, the EIC Crew has had the extreme pleasure of visiting newly found waterfalls in the county due to all the rainy weather. Visit our website to view a couple of great posts covering excursions to these waterfalls along West Twin Creek and the Colley Branch! Also, there is a recent post with fantastic photos documenting the Old Lunenburg Schoolhouse and Oddfellows Hall just before and just after it collapsed in 1989!

Don’t forget our Facebook Group where you can join in conversation and keep up with future events and what we’re doing on a day-to-day basis!

Mark your calendars for September 14th if you wish to join us on a repeat “Trail of Trees” tour which will be held in conjunction with Calico Rock’s “Native-American Day”!
